Libby Croad
Libby Croad is a British composer, arranger and violinist whose music combines a distinctly English sensibility with lyrical melody, rich harmonies and a cinematic sense of atmosphere. Drawing inspiration from poetry and English folk traditions, her music reflects a deep love of melody and expressive, evocative writing.
A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, Libby was awarded an ARAM in 2023 in recognition of her composing achievements. Her music has been performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Singers, London Mozart Players and Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra, and broadcast on BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio 4 and Classic FM, among others.
Recent works include The Brontë Suite, setting poems by the three Brontë sisters; Folklore, a sonata for violin and voice premiered at the Endellion Festival in 2026; and Rivers, commissioned by The Dionysus Ensemble. Alongside her concert music, Libby composes for film, television and theatre, with production music albums released through Felt Music, Deep East Music and BMG Production Music.
Her setting of Silent Night has become one of her best-known Christmas choral works, and is published by Multitude of Voyces in an anthology of Sacred Music by women composers, and can be purchased here.
